Situated on California Highway 1, Muir Beach Overlook offers a vantage point for some fantastic views of the famed California coastline. There are a handful of parking spots (roughly around 20 spots I'd say) but when I went (around 9 in the morning) there was plenty of space available.
Jan 11, 2024 · Muir Beach Overlook offers spectacular views of the Pacific and rocky coastal cliffs, but bring a windbreaker! The steep stair trail out to the furthest lookout point is more than a little blustery, but well worth the view.
Jan 9, 2015 · Muir beach is a quaint cove near Muir Woods National Park. It is what you would picture a Northern California Beach to look like. The water was cold but there were many people wading and swimming. Great place to try surfing.

People may visit this cliffside park when driving on State Route 1 (also known as Highway 1) north of San Francisco, California and south of Stinson Beach, California. It has views of Pacific oceanside cliffs and on clear days one can see San Francisco.
Muir Beach Overlook used to be a U.S. Army coastal observation post and has spectacular coastal views. Picnic area provided and watch migrating whales in the winter.

It’s conveniently located one mile north of Muir Beach and parking is easy. It’s a 5 minute walk down the trail to the Overlook.
