A Japanese-produced reboot of the series, titled Pingu in the City ( Japanese: ピングー in ザ・シティ, Hepburn: Pingū in za Shiti), was announced in 2017. It premiered on NHK-E on October 7, 2017. Unlike its previous series, it is computer-animated, and features Pingu and his family moving to a big city.
The episode ends with Pingu's mother rocking and playing with both of them. It's a simple and easy way to deal with a small child's jealousy of a new sibling and the attention that they must have. Pingu also throws tantrums, plays, basically behaves just like a toddler or three-year-old.
A seagull steals PINGU's fish. His search for the thief leads him to a bird's nest full of young birds. When PINGU sees the chicks he understands the mother bird's actions. What is more he decides to help by stealing fish from around the village to feed the birds.
A passer-by sees what is happening and uses their ski to edge out and rescue the boat; unfortunately in the process he falls in and loses his skis. Luckily the stranger doesn't seem too angry and PINGU is delighted to have his boat back.
