Director John Frankenheimer helped photographer James Wong Howe with some hand-held shooting, for the new-identity surgery from which Rock Hudson emerges, as the new "Mr. Wilson," in Seconds, 1966. Based on the novel Seconds by David Ely (New York, 1963).

Through extensive plastic surgery and psychoanalysis, Hamilton is transformed into Tony Wilson (Rock Hudson). He is provided with a new home, a new identity (as Wilson), new friends and a devoted manservant.
To cover the disappearance, a middle-aged male cadaver is killed in a hotel fire. Hamilton submits to the operation that will turn him into a Second, and when the bandages are removed, he's shed twenty years, renamed Tony Wilson and is portrayed by Rock Hudson.
