Apr 29, 2024 · Draft Profile: Bio. Xavier Watts from Burke High School was rated a 4-star recruit by ESPN and handed a 4-star grade by 247 Sports. Following high school, Watts opted to join Notre Dame after being heavily recruited. In 2021 as a freshman Watts saw action in 5 games and played a total of 88 snaps at safety for the Fighting Irish.
Played in all 13 games at safety, starting the final four of the season. Finished the year with 39 tackles, 24 solo. Added tackles for loss in back-to-back games, including a nine-yard sack against Boston College. Added three pass breakups during the season. OHIO STATE (9/3): Season debut.
Xavier Watts is a senior safety for the Notre Dame Fighting Irish. He has 30 solo tackles, one interception and four pass deflections in the 2023 season.

Watts led the Irish with seven interceptions and four pass breakups in 2023, creating 41 points for his team.

Dec 30, 2023 · The Bronko Nagurski Award winner and interception leader announced his decision via social media. He started his career as a wide receiver, but switched to defense in 2021 and led the Fighting Irish to a top-ranked defense in 2023.
Dec 5, 2023 · Xavier Watts was named the 2023 winner of the Bronko Nagurski Trophy — an award given to the best defensive player in college football. It’s incredibly awesome and incredibly funny.
