Frank Stanley Nugent (May 27, 1908 – December 29, 1965) was an American screenwriter, journalist, and film reviewer. He wrote 21 film scripts, 11 for director John Ford. He wrote almost a thousand reviews for The New York Times before leaving journalism for Hollywood.

Frank S. Nugent ’25 made his career as a film critic and screenwriter, beginning in 1929 and lasting until his death in 1965. He began his career with The New York Times as a reporter in 1929, before taking over as the paper’s motion picture editor and critic in 1936.
