Helen TeAta Gale Cole (July 13, 1922 – April 7, 2004) was an American politician who served in the Oklahoma House of Representatives from 1979 to 1984. She first served in the Oklahoma Senate from 1984 to 1988. She returned to the state senate in 1991 and was succeeded by Kathleen Wilcoxson in 1997.
Helen Cole, DrPH, is Senior Researcher (Banco Santander-TALENT fellow) at ICTA-UAB where she is also Deputy Director and co-leader the research lines on urban environment, health, and equity and financialization, housing justice and climate change at BCNUEJ.

May 14, 2007 · Helen Cole, my late mother, was a selfless, loving, strong and wise woman who was as proud of the state of Oklahoma as she was of her Chickasaw heritage. Although many knew her through her political activities and her volunteer work, I knew her first and foremost as my Mom.
Helen TeAta Gale Cole was born in 1922 in Tishomingo, Oklahoma. She is of both Chickasaw and Choctaw descent. The proud member of the Chickasaw Nation is also the niece of the famous storyteller, Te Ata Fisher, and is the mother of Oklahoma politician Tom Cole.
Self-described as a "triple minority"— a female, Native American Republican in the Oklahoma Senate, Helen Cole had a lot to overcome to achieve her dreams. But for the heir apparent of Te Ata's grace, perseverance and charm, a successful public career was as much destiny as dream. SHOW MORE.
