His newest play, Safe, Three Queer Plays, follows the seismic changes in Queer America through a gay man of color’s life. Rey also recently contributed to a collaborative libretto for Desert In, which premiered on the Boston Lyric Opera’s operabox.tv.
Rey is Co-Director of the Ma-Yi Writers Lab and teaches at Primary Stages ESPA and SUNY Purchase. BFA: NYU, MFA: Yale School of Drama.

A. Rey Pamatmat is a playwright, director, and educator whose works explore the intersections of race, sexuality, and identity. He is an affiliated artist with the National New Play Network, a group of theaters that supports the development and production of new plays. His plays include Edith Can Shoot Things and Hit Them, Thunder Above, Deeps Below, and House Rules.
Pamatmat was the '12/'13 Hodder Fellow in Playwriting and the '11/'12 PoNY Fellow. His play Edith Can Shoot Things and Hit Them premiered at the Humana Festival, was produced nationwide, received the Steinberg/ATCA New Play Citation, and was nominated for 2013 GLAAD Media and Lambda Literary Awards.
