James Ellison (born James Ellison Smith; May 4, 1910 – December 23, 1993) was an American film actor who appeared in nearly 70 films from 1932 to 1962. Biography. Ellison was born in Guthrie Center, Iowa, the son of Edward James Smith and Ona Mary Ellis.
He died in 1993, as the result of a fall in which he broke his neck, at the age of 83. Ellison was married twice, first to Gertrude Durkin, whom he took as his wife in 1937. They had two children, Durk and Trudy. After Gertrude's death in 1970, Ellison married Lois Bretherton on June 25, 1972, and remained married to her until his death.
