Illinois raised singer-songwriter Lissie (real name Elisabeth Maurus) has released a 5-track EP of covers, offering her take on popular hits from artists including One Direction and Bob Dylan. The new EP Cryin’ To You becomes her fifth, joining several full-length collections in her catalogue.

The EP opens with her cover of Danzig’s classic anthem “Mother.” She begins it quietly, simply accompanied by guitar and bass. And the way she sings it, she cooly turns it into something of a folk song. You don’t even have mild percussion until she’s roughly halfway through the song.
