Lunar habitation is any human habitation on the Moon. Lunar habitation is provided by surface habitats, possibly as part of a moonbase.
NASA is currently developing concepts for sustained crew missions to the lunar surface. A crucial component of these concepts is the need for elements to house and support the crew for durations of 30 days or more. A lunar surface habitat is one option for crew habitation.

Artemis Base Camp. NASA intends to establish a sustained lunar presence with the development of the Artemis Base Camp by the end of the decade. The base camp core elements include the Lunar Terrain Vehicle (LTV), Pressurized Rover (PR), Surface Habitat (SH), power systems, and in-situ resource utilization (ISRU) systems.
