   Hollier: "Not only is the cool sci-fi gadgetry stuff that you just talked about, but I can't think of anything more manly than standing up and saying, "I love this woman" or "I love this man." And to me, that is the cornerstone of all storytelling. In the writers room from day one, I said, my favorite story point, beyond all the sci-fi stuff, is when someone interrupts another person dancing with somebody else. That's all I'm really here to do."

   I would like to tell you guys about Chris Hollier. He doesn't have twitter, so I tend to get all the attention for this show, but he is my partner in showrunning and without him I literally would've wandered off into the desert never to be heard from again.

   Actually me & Chris Hollier are co-showrunners. Julie’s running Legacies.

   Hollier and I worked together on The Originals. Without getting into detail, I went through a tough time on that show, and Hollier was so supportive. He never once made me feel shame, even though I'd definitely made mistakes. He wanted to help me be better and FEEL better.

   I knew when hiring a co-showrunner, it had to be a man. I've worked with many people who refused to listen to me because I was a young woman. Now that I'm showrunning, I don't have time to change those people's tiny minds. I wanted to be able to say "Fine, then listen to him."

   When people would try to "go over my head" to him, he'd remind them that I needed to be included in the conversation, because it's my show. When I was wrong about something, he helped me understand why. When I was right about something, he didn't senselessly challenge it.

   AND he's absolutely fucking brilliant, and so talented, and so kind, and so fucking fun to have a drink with whether we're celebrating a victory or lamenting a failure or just shaking our heads in disbelief (it was mostly that last one). He's just the fucking best.
