I always loved this track and so with Willie’s permission, “The Maker” was superimposed overtop. Tony Hall overdubbed harmony basses, Cyril Neville played gembe, Art Neville played piano and Aaron Neville sang support and response vocals. Malcolm and I played the rest of the instruments. Dec 13, 2008 · The melody of "Amazing Grace" is virtually unrecognizable and only Aaron Neville's singing gives you a hint of its identity. Whatever the context, Lanois pushes his three-dimensional production towards hallucinatory vividness. As a good producer he gives emphasis to both atmospherics and memorable tunes, qualities that will endure and be enjoyed.
