Samer Ismail (Arabic: سامر إسماعيل; born 8 July 1985 in Homs, Syria) is a Syrian actor known for portraying the ancient character of Umar ibn al-Khattab, the second caliph of Islam in the pan-Arab television series Omar directed by Hatem Ali.
Named in 2016 as one of five “Arab Stars Of Tomorrow” by Screen International, Ismail first made his name in television with the MBC series OMAR, in which he played the title character in the highly successful and elaborately produced Arab TV show.
