Creator Toby Whithouse was approached by production company Touchpaper Television to develop a drama series about a group of friends who buy a house together. Whithouse was not enthusiastic about the idea, but came up with three characters, George, Mitchell, and Annie.
Touchpaper Television is part of the RDF Media Group. It is an independent production company founded by Managing Director, Rob Pursey in 2001. Rob's first steps in the industry were with independent Friday Productions in 1991. He left to script edit The Bill for two and a half years.
