Rintaro (りんたろう, Rintarō, born January 22, 1941) is the pseudonym of Shigeyuki Hayashi (林 重行, Hayashi Shigeyuki), a well-known director of anime. He works frequently with the animation studio Madhouse (which he co-founded), though he is a freelance director not employed directly by any one studio.
Rintaro is the food of a Japanese Izakaya by way of California. We grill pasture-raised chicken over a binchotan-burning Yakitori Grill. Our udon is kneaded, rolled and cut by hand.
Rintaro brings the experience of a Tokyo izakaya to San Francisco. The food tastes both like Japan and California -not fusion food - but the food you'd expect if the Bay Area were a region of Japan. The menu changes daily to take advantage of the best seasonal ingredients.
