James Patrick Kinnon (5 April 1911 – 9 July 1985), commonly known as Jimmy Kinnon or "Jimmy K.", was one of the primary founders of Narcotics Anonymous (NA), a worldwide fellowship of recovering addicts. During his lifetime, he was usually referred to as "Jimmy K." due to NA's principle of personal anonymity on the public level.
Feb 22, 2008 · Jimmy was born in Paisley, Scotland, a small town a little south and west of Glasgow, in 1911 of Irish parents. His father was in the theater, a comedian and dancer, and there was a lot of laughter in his home. Jimmy also became a dancer when he was very young and it set a pattern for his life – one of intense competition.
In 1953 Narcotics Anonymous, was founded in California by Jimmy Kinnon and others. Differing from its predecessors, NA formed a fellowship of mutually supporting groups. Founding members, most of whom were from AA, debated and established the 12 Traditions of the NA fellowship.
