David O'Neil Thompson (born July 13, 1954) is an American former professional basketball player. He played with the Denver Nuggets of both the American Basketball Association (ABA) and National Basketball Association (NBA), as well as the Seattle SuperSonics of the NBA.
David Thompson was a Hall of Fame shooting guard and small forward who played in the ABA and NBA from 1975 to 1983. He won two MVP awards, four All-Star selections, and was the Rookie of the Year in the ABA.
