B. J. Porter (born May 12, 1970 in Dallas, Texas) is an American actor, writer and comedian. Porter began his career writing and performing on the HBO sketch comedy program, Mr. Show. Porter, along with the rest of the Mr. Show writing staff, was nominated for an Emmy Award in 1999.
Previously, he was a Co-Executive Producer and Writer on the HBO series The Life & Times of Tim, a writer for NTSF:SD:SUV on Adult Swim and Head Writer for the 2010 MTV Movie Awards, hosted by Aziz Ansari. Porter has also created pilots for Showtime, USA, FOX, NBC and Comedy Central.
During the 2016-17 season, Porter was the head men's basketball coach at the University of Antelope Valley (Lancaster, Calif.). In his season in-charge at UAV, he led the Marauder's to their first ever Cal Pac Conference postseason birth.
BJ Porter is known for Between Two Ferns with Zach Galifianakis (2008), Run Ronnie Run (2002) and Shark Tale (2004).
