Another of the album's highlights is its title piece Tore Down House, with a vocal by Thelma Houston, who puts in an excellent performance. Henderson's tune, thought outwardly bluesy, is full of the harmonic twists and even shifts in time signature one associates with fusion.

Most of the album features Thelma Houston with a blues trio; Houston wails while Henderson smokes in a contemporary electric blues vein.
Houston provided lead vocals on several tracks of guitarist Scott Henderson's 1997 Atlantic album, Tore Down House, and in 1998 she made cameo appearances in two films: in 54 Houston portrayed herself singing "Have Yourself a Merry Little Christmas" supposedly at Studio 54, and in Beloved Houston played 'One of The Thirty Women'.
