Paul Joseph Schrader (/ ˈ ʃ r eɪ d ər /; born July 22, 1946) is an American screenwriter, film director, and film critic. He first became widely known for writing the screenplay of Martin Scorsese's Taxi Driver (1976).
Paul Schrader is a filmmaker known for his screenplays for Taxi Driver, Affliction and First Reformed, among others. He also directed films such as Mishima, The Canyons and Dominion: Prequel to the Exorcist.
