Daniel Margotta was born in Passaic, New Jersey to Army Sergeant and electrician Daniel Anthony Margotta of Montclair, New Jersey and Antoinette Grace Piacenti of Brooklyn, New York. He is the oldest of their three children. Daniel is a second-generation Italian-American, and all four of his grandparents came to the United States from Italy.
Daniel spent his childhood in a low-income apartment complex in New Jersey, where his family often struggled financially. Daniel has enjoyed the accolades of his career by winning a Clio for his very popular "Got Milk" commercial & recently winning Best Supporting Actor in the NY Film & Video Festival May 2003 for his role as "Cheech" in I Am Woody (2003).
Throughout the 1990s he landed principal roles in film and television, working his way up to leading roles in The Stand-In (Kelly Ripa, David Ogden Stiers), Wannabes (Joe Viterelli), Jesus, Mary and Joey (Jennifer Esposito, Olympia Dukakis 2003) among others. He also served as an Associate Producer on several of them.
