    Daniel at age 3

    Daniel Margotta was born in Passaic, New Jersey to Army Sergeant and electrician Daniel Anthony Margotta of Montclair, New Jersey and Antoinette Grace Piacenti of Brooklyn, New York. He is the oldest of their three children. Daniel is a second-generation Italian-American, and all four of his grandparents came to the United States from Italy.

    Daniel spent his childhood in a low-income apartment complex in New Jersey, where his family often struggled financially. Throughout the 1990s he landed principal roles in film and television, working his way up to leading roles in The Stand-In (Kelly Ripa, David Ogden Stiers), Wannabes (Joe Viterelli), Jesus, Mary and Joey (Jennifer Esposito, Olympia Dukakis 2003) among others.
