Founded in Canada, it was formed by Frank Giustra on July 10, 1997, domiciled in Vancouver, British Columbia. It is currently headquartered in Santa Monica, California. Up until 2024, Lionsgate owned film and TV businesses under its own umbrella. They have since been spun off into Lionsgate Studios Corp, which Lionsgate owns 87%.
