Henry Lynch, MD, FAACR, was a renowned geneticist who discovered the hereditary causes of some common cancers. He founded the Hereditary Cancer Center at Creighton University and received many awards for his contributions to the field.
Henry T. Lynch (1928-2019) was a pioneer in cancer genetics research and the founder of Creighton's Hereditary Cancer Prevention Clinic. He identified the principles of cancer inheritance and the genes that cause Lynch Syndrome and Hereditary Breast/Ovarian Cancer Syndrome.
One person who noted these familial clusters of cancer was Henry T. Lynch, MD, who reported several families in detail in 1966-67 12-14. [Figure 3]. Lynch was aware of Warthin’s “Cancer Family G”; therefore, he arranged for a family reunion near Ann Arbor, MI, to learn more about this family.
