Walter Franz Maria Stennes (12 April 1895 – 19 May 1983) was a leader of the Sturmabteilung (SA, stormtroopers, or "brownshirts") of the Nazi Party in Berlin and the surrounding area. In August 1930 he led a revolt against Adolf Hitler, the leader of the party, and Hitler's appointed regional head of the party in the Berlin area, Joseph Goebbels.
Am 17. Dezember 1930 heiratete Stennes in Berlin Hildegard Margarete Elisabeth Borkenhagen (* 4. September 1907 in Königstein am Taunus), eine Tochter des Eisenbahndirektors Richard Alfred Julius Borkenhagen (1865–1940) und seiner Ehefrau Anna Elisabeth Margarethe, geb. Reichelt (1879–?).
