  3. Victor Schertzinger. Victor Schertzinger was a man of many talents who utilized them all to the fullest. He was a musical prodigy who played violin with famous orchestras by the age of eight and toured Europe as a soloist while still in his teens. In 1913 he published his first song, “Marcheta,” for which he also wrote the lyric.

  4. Schertzinger directed 103 films between 1917 and 1942. He won the first Oscar in the Best Original Score category in 1934 for "One Night of Love." He also received a Best Director nomination for the film. But he is likely best remembered as the first director of the "Road" pictures starring Bob Hope, Bing Crosby and Dorothy Lamour.
