Herbert von Karajan’s 1964 Schubert Eighth and 1968 Ninth receive their best remasterings to date via DG’s 2008 Master Recordings project, launched to commemorate the conductor’s centennial year. In the Unfinished, high-end frequencies emerge with a little more definition and timbral character.

May 26, 2018 · Charles Münch is an Alsatian conductor widely known for his energetic and vivid accounts of French orchestral repertoire. I can’t say I have heard him leading much music from German composers, nonetheless someone like Franz Schubert who lies closer to the Classical Era, but Münch imbues as much élan into Schubert as he does Ravel.
