"X-Men: Days of Future Past" is a bit better, but not substantially different than other superhero movies. It's as visually indistinct, and paint-by-numbers-plot-driven as most Marvel Comics-based projects, especially the gaggle of recent Avengers-related films.
"Days of Future Past" is a storyline in the Marvel Comics comic book The Uncanny X-Men issues #141–142, published in 1981.
