Skalnaté pleso (1751m) is a lake located in the High Tatras mountains in the north of Slovakia. [1] The highest wind speed ever recorded in Slovakia was recorded here on 29 November 1965, when a wind with the speed of 78,6 m/s (283 km/h) was recorded. [2] In November 2021, there was a rare occurrence, as Pleso dried out entirely.

Nov 21, 2023 · This hike starts at Skalnaté Pleso, a green, alpine lake located up in the High Tatras. To get here, you can hike up or you can take the cable car. I recommend taking the cable car. It’s fast, it’s scenic, and it shaves off roughly 2 to 3 strenuous hours of hiking. The lower station of the cable car is located in Tatranská Lomnica.

Sept 2018 • Couples. Skalnate Pleso Translates to Rocky Mountain Lake. It’s the terminus of the eight person Gondola which is the second of three lifts used to get to Lomnicky Stit. The lake itself is much smaller than it appears on the tourist maps and the path around it is rocky in places.
Skalnaté pleso is a morainal mountain-lake in the Tatras in the lowest corrie of the Rocky Valley. It has an area of 1.23 hectares, a depth of 2 m and is located at an altitude of 1754 m above sea level. It is water-free in the dry season because in the construction of the cable car, the impermeability of its bottom has been broken.
