Phoenix is a French indie rock band from Versailles, formed in 1995. Their line-up, which has remained unchanged since their formation, comprises Thomas Mars (lead vocals, drums, percussion), Deck d'Arcy (bass, keyboards, backing vocals), Christian Mazzalai (guitar, backing vocals) and Laurent Brancowitz (guitar, keyboards, backing vocals).
We had a mid-70’s 40 channel modified API that sounded incredible. At the time we were all *obsessed* with ‘Voodoo’ by D’Angelo and ‘Justified’ by Justin Timberlake. I was thrilled to lean into the sonic universe of Alt-band meets pop/soul/r&b and keep things within a specific palette.
