Walter Bullock was born in Macclesfield Forest in 1882, the son of Sarah (nee Whiston) and James Bullock, a farmer of Dimples Farm. In 1891, eight-year-old Walter was living at Dimples Farm with his parents and siblings Edith May (12), Ernest (11), Albert (9) and Sarah Bertha (7).
