Nov 17, 2020 · To help you figure out what to do and where to go, I’ve compiled this fully flexible itinerary in Taipei for 1-5 days. It’s packed with must-do activities, places to see, and top tips to make the most of your time during your 5-day stay.
- Taiwanese Breakfast. Start off by fueling up for the busy day of sightseeing before you. Taiwanese breakfast shops are a glorious thing, and you really shouldn’t miss the chance to experience one.
- Longshan Temple. With your tummy now satisfied, it’s time to switch into serious sightseeing mode. I highly recommend starting your Taipei one day itinerary at Longshan Temple (龍山寺), Taipei’s most famous and important temple (find out how to pray for love in my Longshan Temple guide!)
- Chiang Kai-shek Memorial Hall. With those sacred mantras still reverberating in your soul, it’s time to move on to one of Taipei’s most notable landmarks: Chiang Kai-shek Memorial Hall (國立中正紀念堂).
- Taipei 101 Observatory. Welcome to Taipei’s (and Taiwan’s) most recognizable landmark! You’ll need to set aside at least a couple hours for visiting this iconic skyscraper’s observatory, or even more if you’d like to further explore the building and perhaps do some shopping in the area.
- Take a Ride on the Taipei Sightseeing Bus. The best way to quickly get a taste of Taipei in a short amount of time is with a ride on the Taipei Sightseeing Bus.
- Watch the Sunset at Elephant Mountain. Watching the epic sunset from atop Elephant Mountain is a massive must on your night out in Taipei. Situated not too far from Taipei 101, Elephant Mountain is a relatively short hike, but a tough one.
- Grab Dinner at Din Tai Fung. Taipei has a fantastic food scene with more than its share of restaurants, making choosing just one a challenge. However, no visit to Taipei will be complete without trying the mouthwatering and super juicy xiao long bao (soup dumplings) at Din Tai Fung – one of the most famous restaurants in all Taiwan!
- Admire the Cityscape from Taipei 101. Seeing the city light up from atop the tallest building in Taiwan is a massive must while exploring Taipei during the night!

- Shilin Night Market. When researching what to do in Taipei at night, the first thing that will crop up will most certainly by Taipei’s night markets. Taipei’s night scene is dominated by its colorful night markets where you can find a myriad of things to see, do, and most importantly, eat!
- Ningxia Night Market. Though a lot smaller than the others, Ningxia night market has a more relaxed atmosphere and a small community vibe that many people prefer.
- Taipei 101. Taipei 101 is more than just a building, it is a mini-city within Taipei! The tour of the building itself is excellent, you will learn all about the tower and its history and get to see the famous big pendulum.
- Visit the mountains. One of my all-time favorite things to do in Taipei at night is to hop on my motorcycle and ride up into the mountains, park up and settle down to watch the sunset over the city.
