The European Platform of Women Scientists builds a structural link between women scientists and European and national research policy-makers to achieve equal and full participation of women in science and in science policy in order to safeguard European excellence and innovation in research.
EPWS has created, manages and continuously up-dates a data base of networks of women scientists. The data base contains contact details of more than 223 networks of women scientists and networks promoting women scientists that are active in the EU, associated states and beyond.

The European Platform of Women Scientists EPWS is an umbrella organisation bringing together networks of women scientists and organisations committed to gender equality in research in all disciplines in Europe 27 and the countries associated to the European Union’s Framework Programmes for Research and Technological Development.

Background. In its 1999 Communication “Women and Science: mobilizing women to enrich European Research” the European Commission recognized that networks of women scientists have a key role to play in ensuring a better integration of the gender dimension in the research policy.
