Blood Fire Death is the fourth studio album by Swedish extreme metal band Bathory. It was released on 8 October 1988, through Music for Nations sublabel, Under One Flag. The album, although mostly black metal, includes some of the first examples of Viking metal.
The guys of BLOOD FIRE DEATH put their main focus on Bathory's viking era. The songs are presented by using fat and organic keyboard sounds, acoustic guitars and vocal arrangements, true to the original compositions.

Although Bathory's fourth album, Blood Fire Death (1988), largely followed in the style of the albums before it, some songs had a very different style. These songs have a much slower tempo, acoustic passages, choral background singing, and lyrics about Vikings and Norse mythology .
