Gonzalo Madurga was a Cuban American actor who appeared on Sesame Street as Dr. Sanchez, administering shots to Big Bird in two season 11 episodes, Episode 1339 and Episode 1399.
Madurga performed with the New York Shakespeare Festival, including a 1966 Spanish language Macbeth (as Banquo, with Raul Julia) and played Mayor Manzoni in the short-run Broadway musical Carmelina (directed by José Ferrer). He played recurring doctors on several soap operas, including The Guiding Light (Dr. Gonzalo Moreno), Where the Heart Is (Dr. Carlos Ramirez), and the radio soap To Have & To Hold (Dr. Joe Gonzales). Other TV credits included guest roles on Kojak (as a priest), You Are There, and Law & Order. In film, he played a counterman in Shaft.
