- Portrayal
Capt. John Garwood was the commander of the Los Angeles Police Department's Robbery-Homicide Division (R-HD). He was Bosch's supervisor when Bosch was in R-HD.
In 1998, Garwood was called to the scene of the murders of Howard Elias and Catalina Perez. He was upset because the case was taken away from him and given to Bosch, Jerry Edgar and Kizmin Rider for political reasons. When Bosch became aware that John Chastain was most likely Elias' killer, he called Garwood to talk about it. They met at Frank Sinatra's star on Vine St.
Garwood is played by guest star William Russ in the Amazon streaming series Bosch. He is a supporting character in the fourth season. He appears at the scene of the Howard Elias murder but has no apparent history with Detective Bosch.
