Barbara Lee Payton (born Redfield; November 16, 1927 – May 8, 1967) was an American film actress best known for her stormy social life and battles with alcoholism and drug addiction. Her life has been the subject of several books, including her autobiography I Am Not Ashamed (1963).

Barbara Payton was born on 16 November 1927 as Barbara Lee Redfield in Cloquet, Minnesota, in the US. She was the daughter of Erwin Lee Redfield and Mabel Irene Todahl. Her parents were Norwegian immigrants. Her family later moved to Odessa, Texas, where her father started his own business.
