Today Samaritan’s Purse earns $1.1 billion a year, largely from public donations; employs 4,464 people, and works in more than 100 countries, providing aid to victims of war, disease, disaster, poverty, and famine.
Franklin was elected to the board of Samaritan’s Purse in 1978; one year later, following the death of Pierce, he was elected president. Today, he serves as president and CEO of the international relief and evangelism organization headquartered in Boone, North Carolina.
