William Clement Frawley (February 26, 1887 – March 3, 1966) was an American Vaudevillian and actor best known for playing landlord Fred Mertz in the sitcom I Love Lucy.
William Frawley was an American actor who starred in I Love Lucy (1951) as Fred Mertz and My Three Sons (1960) as Bub O'Casey. He also appeared in over 100 films, including Miracle on 34th Street (1947) and The Bride Came C.O.D. (1941).

William Frawley was born in Burlington, Iowa. As a boy he sang at St. Paul's Catholic Church and played at the Burlington Opera House. His first job was as a stenographer for the Union Pacific Railroad.
