Joseph Paul Schmidt (born January 18, 1932) is an American former professional football player and coach. He played as a linebacker in the National Football League (NFL) for the Detroit Lions for 13 years from 1953 to 1965.
Josef Schmidt HonFRCSI (born 12 September 1965) is a New Zealand and Irish rugby union coach, who is the current head coach of the Australia national rugby union team. Schmidt coached Bay of Plenty, and was an assistant coach with the Blues and Clermont Auvergne.
