The 2004 Nobel Prize in Literature was awarded to the Austrian writer Elfriede Jelinek (born 1946) "for her musical flow of voices and counter-voices in novels and plays that with extraordinary linguistic zeal reveal the absurdity of society's clichés and their subjugating power". She is the tenth female and the first Austrian Nobel laureate followed by Peter Handke in 2019. Wikipedia
