Arturo Guzmán Decena (13 January 1976 – 21 November 2002), also known by his code name Z-1, was a Mexican Army Special Forces officer and high-ranking member of Los Zetas, a criminal group based in Tamaulipas.
Arturo Guzman Decena was born 13 January 2006 1976 in a poor village in Puebla and joined the military as a teenager to escape from poverty. While in the military, he was a talented and aggressive soldier, earning a position in the Mexican Army GAFE elite unit by the mid-1990s.
Arturo Guzmán Decena (Puebla, México, 13 de enero de 1976 - Matamoros, Tamaulipas, 21 de noviembre de 2002), también conocido por su nombre en clave Z-1 fue un Teniente del Grupo Aeromóvil de Fuerzas Especiales (GAFE), terrorista y fundador de Los Zetas.
Los Zetas was named after its first commander, Arturo Guzmán Decena, whose Federal Judicial Police radio code was "Z1", a code given to high-ranking officers.
I also heard that in 1999, Z1 and Z3 disguised as AFI soldiers entered the house where el ROLYS was supposedly to be hiding, but instead they were caught at gunfire by el ROLYS gunmen and than Z3 managed to blow up gas tank inside the house which killed the enemy gunmen.
