László Nemes (born Nemes Jeles László; Hungarian: [ˈnɛmɛʃ ˈjɛlɛʃ ˈlaːsloː]; 18 February 1977) is a Hungarian film director and screenwriter. His 2015 debut feature film, Son of Saul, was screened in the main competition at the 2015 Cannes Film Festival, [1] where it won the Grand Prix. [2]
László Nemes is a filmmaker who won the Grand Prix at Cannes for his debut feature Son of Saul, a Holocaust drama set in a concentration camp. He was born in Budapest, moved to France at 12, and worked as an assistant director for Béla Tarr.
