John Crowley / ˈkraʊli / (born December 1, 1942) is an American author of fantasy, science fiction, historical fiction, and non-fiction. Crowley studied at Indiana University and has a second career as a documentary film writer.
John Francis Crowley (born April 7, 1967) is the President and CEO of the Biotechnology Innovation Organization (BIO), the world’s largest biotechnology advocacy organization. [1] He served as the chairman and CEO of Amicus Therapeutics.
John Crowley is a science fiction and fantasy author from Massachusetts who is best known for the “Aegypt” series of novels. The novelist was born in Presque Isle, Maine in December 1942 when his father was working as a doctor at the Army Air Corps.
Crowley, a longtime BIO board member, was most recently the Founder and Executive Chairman of Amicus Therapeutics, a global biotechnology company focusing on developing treatments for rare genetic diseases. He served as Chief Executive Officer of Amicus from 2005 to 2022.

John Crowley was born in December, 1942, in Presque Isle, Maine, where his father, an Army Air Corps doctor, was stationed. He spent the war years (of which he remembers nothing) in Greenwich Village, in a family of women: his mother, older sister, aunt and grandmother, and baby sister.
