Vigadó (usually translated as "Place for Merriment") is Budapest's second largest concert hall, located on the Eastern bank of the Danube in Budapest, Hungary. Although the acoustics are lacking, the building itself, designed by Frigyes Feszl in 1859, makes a bold impression along the Pest embankment.
History of the Pesti Vigadó - Vigadó. A Redoubt into the Redoute. By the end of the Ottoman occupation in 1686, Pest, a mostly Magyar-inhabited market town at the meeting point of important trade routes, lay in ruins, but in a few decades it regained strength.
The Pesti Vigadó, this astonishing building, has played a vital role in the cultural life of Budapest since 1865. In addition to cathartic concerts and amazing stage performances, contemporary art presentations are also on offer.
Pesti Vigadó (which means place for merriment) is the 2nd largest concert hall in Budapest. The very first building was totally destroyed by fire in 1848. At its place a new building emerged. It was lucky to be designed by Frigyes Feszl, the same person that designed the Dohány Street Jewish Synagogue.

The Pesti Vigado, the most beautiful concert hall in Budapest, located along the Danube Promenade in Pest, was completed in 1865, replacing an earlier concert hall (designed by Mihály Pollack) destroyed in the Hungarian War of Independence in 1848-1849.
