Leadbetter Point lies at the northern tip of the Long Beach Peninsula. The peaceful and often deserted trails run along the Willapa Bay shoreline for more than 10 miles, passing through maritime forests, mudflats and grassy sand dunes.

A walk through the coastal forest and tidal flats of Leadbetter Point State Park, the Dune Forest Loop is a nice way to see this low-lying peninsula, but the conditions on trail are heavily dependent on the tides and recent rainfall.
Leadbetter Point State Park is a natural area open for day use. The park features beach frontage on the Pacific Ocean and Willapa Bay. It borders the Willapa National Wildlife Refuge which has about five miles of ocean beach and several miles of bay beach.
After one-half mile south on the beach, we connected with the Weather Beach trail to the Dune Forest trail, back to the parking area, a total of about 5 miles. An excellent hike beside Willipa Bay, through the forested dunes, to the Pacific Ocean and back again.
