Located in the Pope John Paul II Pavilion on the west side of the Basilica, the visitor center is open Monday through Friday 10:00am to 3:00pm. Saturday and Sunday hours are 10:00am to 4:00pm. Walking tour brochures are available for your convenience.
The Basilica epitomizes the striving of early Polish immigrants to express their ethnic heritage, spiritual devotion, and patriotic pride by building impressive houses of worship. The first Poles came to Milwaukee in the 1840s, but their numbers did not become significant until after the Civil War.
Our Mission is the preservation, restoration and enhancement of the Basilica of St. Josaphat as an historical landmark, center of spirituality, and community asset for Milwaukee, Wisconsin and our nation.
