Fort Ward Park is a 137-acre marine park with 4,300 feet of saltwater shoreline on Rich Passage. Many of the structures in the park reflect the historic military significance of the area, but the park is well developed for day use.

Following the south western shore of Bainbridge Island this park offers a nice walking/biking trail for young and old. There are plenty of picnic tables for dining alfresco. A public boat launch, a fair amount of parking, restroom facilities and a bit of WWII history round out the amenities. Winter, Spring, Summer or Fall, it is a nice place to be.

A former military base created during World War I, Fort Ward Park still features remnants of its military past. Located on an abandoned access road (now a paved walkway), this state-turned-local park has several gun batteries – two of which are right along the main walkway.
Fort Ward Park has a rich history and a variety of trails. This park used to be a military fort to protect the navy yards in Bremerton. It was closed in the ‘60s and has been public land ever since, first as a state park and now as a local city park.
