  5. Located at 98-196 Freedom Rd, Williamsport, PA. Daniel Hughes helped create the Freedom Road Cemetery in the middle of the nineteenth-century by donating part of his own land to become a cemetery for African-Americans. Nine black Civil War veterans are buried here. (By Rebecca Solnit)

  6. Among those buried in the cemetery are nine African-American veterans of the Civil War. There is a Pennsylvania Historical Marker at the site of the cemetery, and Loyalsock Township has recently taken over maintenance.

  7. Freedom Road Cemetery. Daniel Hughes also contributed to the African American community in Williamsport by donating some of his land for use as a cemetery. There are nine African Veterans of the American Civil War buried in the cemetery that is commemorated by a Pennsylvania Historical Marker.
