Feb 4, 2016 · Mount Beacon is a trail that is clearly marked, moderate in climbing and easy to get to. The views are great so bring a snack and relax at the top for awhile. A nice way to start a Sunday morning in the Spring and Fall!

Beacon Mountain, locally Mount Beacon, is the highest peak of Hudson Highlands, located south of City of Beacon, New York, in the Town of Fishkill. Its two summits rise above the Hudson River behind the city and can easily be seen from Newburgh across the river and many other places in the region.

To get to the first overlook at the old casino ruins, you’ll have to climb about 200 stairs, then proceed around a bunch of steep, rocky switchbacks.

But when I say "steep", I mean that the moderate rated-trails will feel more intense than that for the first 1/3 for an average day-hike person.

We climbed to the top of Mount Beacon in Fishkill yesterday, a round trip hike of about four miles, with excellent views, and easy to moderate hiking. Mt. Beacon is the Highest Peak in the Hudson Highlands. We passed the old casino ruins, incline railway and some great views of the Hudson valley.
