Maymont is a 100-acre (0.156 sq mi) Victorian estate and public park in Richmond, Virginia. It contains Maymont Mansion, now a historic house museum, an arboretum, formal gardens, a carriage collection, native wildlife exhibits, a nature center, and Children's Farm.
Richmond-born financier James Dooley was among this new class in American society. His home, Maymont, stands today as a remarkably complete expression of Gilded Age luxury and opulence. Maymont was the 100-acre Victorian country estate of James Henry and Sallie May Dooley.
Maymont has rolling fields with ancient trees, situated on a high bluff on the north bank of the James River with river vistas. It contains, a formal Japanese garden, rose garden, Richmond's unofficial zoo, historic carriages, a new contemporary nature center building, and the Dooley Mansion, both open to the public.
